Jaipur. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that it is the priority of the State Government to recruit teachers and make infrastructural development of Mahatma Gandhi English Medium Schools. The State Government is making all possible efforts towards making the school education effective and excellent in the State. Positive results are also coming out of this. In the era of globalisation, till now 749 Mahatma Gandhi English Medium Schools have been set up to provide quality education in English medium to the students of the State. A total of 2,000 Mahatma Gandhi English Medium Schools are being set up in the villages and cities of the State as per the budget announcement 2022-23. Shri Gehlot was addressing the review meeting of the school education department at his official residence on Tuesday. Enrollment of students in the schools in the State has crossed 98.5 lakh, the highest ever till now. He directed that the enrollment should cross more than 1 crore by organising ‘Praveshotsav’ in a planned manner for the forthcoming session. The education department should complete the recruitment process for the vacant posts in the schools in a time-bound manner.
Cadre of English Medium Teachers
It was informed in the meeting that pre-primary classes are being run in Mahatma Gandhi English Medium Schools functioning in all the districts of the State and approval has been given to run 1000 pre-primary kindergartens in the newly opened Mahatma Gandhi English Medium Schools. Shri Gehlot said that making a cadre of English medium teachers and the process of recruitment of 10,000 English medium teachers should be completed in a time-bound manner so that students in the rural areas get the full benefit of Mahatma Gandhi English Medium Schools. The officers said that a strong monitoring system will be set up to ensure quality education in Mahatma Gandhi English Medium Schools. Soon a separate cell will be set up for this at the Directorate of Primary/Secondary Education, Bikaner and 9 Educational Divisions.
3832 Secondary Schools upgraded to Senior Secondary
In the meeting, it was told that all 3,832 Secondary Schools were upgraded to Senior Secondary in the State to make quality education accessible to remote villages and hamlets. This was done immediately after the budget announcement 2022-23, without any discrimination. These schools include 397 Girls’ Secondary Schools and 115 Girls’ Primary Schools were also upgraded to upper primary schools.
The State Government has taken many steps to promote sports. Approval has been given from this session to run Health and Physical Education as optional subjects in class XI and XII in 254 schools. The Chief Minister has directed to complete the process of appointment on newly created 5546 posts of Physical Teachers at the earliest. Education Minister Dr BD Kalla said that on the initiative of the Chief Minister the process of recruitment for the vacant posts in the schools of the State is being completed very fast. The appointment has been made on 64,706 posts in the department till now since December 2018 and 24,966 promotions were given. Besides these appointments, recruitment of teachers of various categories on 94,845 posts is under process in the education department. Zila Parishads will give appointments on 15,500 posts under primary education by May 25, 2022.
Chief Secretary Smt Usha Sharma directed the officers to work on mission mode to start Mahatma Gandhi English Medium Schools from July 1, 2022, and make extensive publicity about these schools. Additional Chief Secretary School Education Shri Pawan Kumar Goyal said that approving Rs 2468.76 crore for infrastructural development in schools, 7199 different types of constructions have been sanctioned of which 6323 works have been completed by April 30, 2022, and 778 works are in progress. So far, a total of Rs 1730.77 crore has been spent on these works. Giving information about the progress of the proposed new recruitments, he said that the budget announcements made by the State Government in the education sector are being completed promptly.
Shri Goyal said that Rajasthan has got 1+ ranking in the Performance Grading Index of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Rajasthan was in the first position at the national level in the Fit India Movement session 2020-21. In Inspire Award Scheme, Rajasthan stood in the first position in the country (session 2020-21 and 2021-22). To honour the sacrifice made by the martyrs, a total of 297 schools have been christened in the name of martyrs.Principal Secretary Finance Shri Akhil Arora, State Project Director Rajasthan Council of School Education Dr Mohan Lal Yadav, Special Secretary School Education Shri Umardeen Khan, Director Primary/Secondary Education Bikaner Shri Gaurav Agarwal and other senior officers were present at the meeting.
